Dear Callahan Families,
Thank you Callahan Families for taking distance learning so serious. While I know how hard we are all working to make this happen it does not go unnoticed the challenges that each family and educators face as we move further along with virtual learning. Please continue to emphasize to your children that this is school time. If there is anything I can do to help please feel free to reach out to me. I will be distributing reimbursement checks this week for families of students in grades 4 & 5 that paid for Nature’s classroom. I have sent those families a separate e-mail outlining the procedure for this. Please continue to email your teacher or me with any issues that may arise. We are in this together!!

Nature’s Classroom- Reimbursement checks and returned un-cashed checks will be handed out at Callahan this week. When parents come to the school for the check please bring your own pen to sign that you received the check. The checks were placed in envelopes by us practicing the guidelines set out by the state of RIDOH. Masks and gloves were worn. Please report to the front of the school with your own pen and ring the buzzer at the door. The check reimbursement will take place during these times:
Monday, April 13: 2:00-4:00PM
Tuesday, April 14: 7:45-9:45AM & 12:30-4:00PM
Wednesday, April 15: 7:45-10:45AM & 2:00-4:00PM
Thursday, April 16: 7:45-10:45AM & 12:15- 4:00PM
Friday, April 17: 9:00-11:00AM & 12:15-2:30PM

Specials-Some students have had issues with assignments and getting into Art, Music, PE/Health, and Library/tech. Please contact the specials teacher directly for help on any assignments. Special teachers will continue to be live from 12-12:30 and available for help from 12:30-1:00 (right after the class in the same meet/zoom).
Virtual Spirit Week-The BHS Student council continues to come up with the week's theme! In order to participate, please check the weekly spirit week flyer (attached) and plan to dress for the day's theme or set aside time to do the activity. At some point during the day, take a photo of your child (or if they can have them) in their attire or them completing the activity. Finally, email the photo to firstname.lastname@example.org. Photos will be shared virtually to show our community spirit and continue to remind us that we are all in this together!
ATTENTION Daily Lunches- Lunch distribution in Burrillville will continue throughout distance learning. Bag lunches are being offered at Callahan daily from 11:00-12:00. Your child needs to be there to pick the lunch up. This is being done in front of the school of WLC. Please practice social distancing when coming to get lunches.

The popcorn fundraising order has been submitted and once it arrives to us we will contact parents about arranging a pickup time. We don’t have anything else until we come up with concrete plans for the rest of the year. Thanks and I hope you’re all hanging in there.

Negative Lunch Balance-The negative balance policy is in effect. The new negative balance limits for full pay students is - $19.50 this price reflects the new increase allowing full pay students to charge up to five breakfasts and five lunches. The reduced limit remains at -$3.50. If your child’s account goes over this amount they will have an alternate lunch of that consists of two sides, milk and a sunny butter and jelly sandwich.
